Smallmouth Bass are one of the most aggressive and resilient freshwater gamefish available to us in North America. They are often willing biters and provide anglers with a hard fought, determined battle, head-shaking leaps, and numerous runs. They will smash topwater presentations, erupting from the water’s surface. A big, bruiser smallmouth is a great adversary for both fly anglers and conventional anglers. They’re also great for kids to get hooked on the sport!

This drawing is featured on the back of the FISHBUM Nick Laferriere Signature Bronzeback jacket. Bass are one of my favorite confidence boosting fish. After a long winter and a spring of chasing trout, a day of bass fishing is refreshing.
